Restyling Villa in Celle Ligure
The project presented here concerns a renovation, in the final stages, that has occupied the studio for almost 8 years: a villa located in Celle Ligure. The property in question is a building constructed at the end of the 60s, a bad example of Internetional style; the formal themes were those of a building on pilotis with an “L” plan, where the engineer indulged in the use of the most varied materials and shapes: from travertine to bricks, passing through the stones that covered the trapezoidal pillars, up to wood. The initial commission consisted of redoing the facades; the P.U.C. of the Municipality of Celle, despite the property not being subject to any constraints, limited the use of materials to plaster only in the colors of the “Ligurian palette”. The project therefore consisted of “cleaning” the facades of all the materials used and focusing on a few elements, such as the black flashings to highlight all the main lines of the facades. The only concession to decoration was the fake tile facing of the two pilotis to recall the Milanese architecture of the 1950s that the designer had certainly drawn inspiration from. As often happened with these clients, the project was then expanded with the addition of the swimming pool (set between the narrow terraces of the land) and the new underground garage with an inclined lift, which connects the three levels of the house: street, porch and the terrace above.

Restaurtion of an ancient spring and arrangement of paths in Favale di Malvaro
The work presented here is a natural source, which from historical research has been traced back to the end of the nineteenth century, when a wash house was built there. The wash house is set into the hillside; presents a kind of front that reproduces a gable roof, with the 2 lateral containment walls that follow the slope of the hill and in the center 3 sloping basins that collect the water that flows from the source, the power plant was once used as a wash house. The floor is made of cobblestones.
The whole was in a poor state of conservation, the restoration project consists of cleaning the surfaces and restoring the preserved portions of plaster with hydraulic mortars based on natural lime. The project then focused on enhancing the building through lighting. In addition to the restoration of this building, the assignment also included the construction of a new path that led from the road level, via an inclined ramp, to the plateau where the source rises and where there is a small play area for children.
